The notification for CGPSC Mains exam had been released by the official exam conducting authorities. The
Prelims for CGPSC SSE exam took place on February 12th . The online registration process for CGPSC State
Service Exam Main Exam commenced from June 27, 2020, onwards. Candidates can register themselves for
mains examination by going to the official website. Earlier, CGPSC 2020 mains exam which was scheduled to
be held from June 17 to June 20, 2020, had been delayed due to the nationwide lockdown. The State Service
Exam is executed in three phases- prelims and mains exam. The selection of the candidate is then followed by
an interview round. Through the CGPSC State Service Exam, the commission has concluded to recruit candi-
dates in 242 vacancies available in different posts. While preparing for the examination the students have to
make sure that they are fully familiar with the CGPSC exam pattern and syllabus 2020. In this article, we will
be covering the CGPSC Syllabus of Prelims and Mains and the exam pattern of the CGPSC State Service
Exam.

CGPSC SSE 2020 Exam Pattern
The CGPSC State Service Exam comprises three stages. Candidates qualifying in the first stage are considered
eligible for the second one. Candidates qualifying for the second stage are considered eligible for the third stage
of the CGPSC 2020. Candidates are urged to make note of the exam pattern for better preparation for the exam.

In the CGPSC Prelims Examination both the papers are:
The paper is an objective type exam
The mode of paper is offline
The total time allotted for each paper is 2 hours
Each paper is for 200 marks
There are a total of 100 questions in each paper
There are 1/3 negative marks for every wrong answer.

CGPSC Mains Exam Pattern 2020
Candidates who clear the Prelims will be called for the second stage which is the Mains examination. How-
ever the exam pattern for the papers III-VII are a little different and have been mentioned in a table below the
complete Mains exam pattern.
The Mains exam will be conventional in nature
CGPSC Main exam comprises 7 papers
Each paper carries 200 marks.
The time given for each paper is 3 hours.
All the papers except for the Language paper can be answered in either Hindi or English as selected
by the candidate.
In the Essay paper, candidates are expected to write 2 essays, one on a National level problem and
other related to the state of Chhattisgarh.

CGPSC Interview 2020
The candidates who qualify for the mains examination, are invited for a personality test which is the interview
and is of 150 marks. The personality test judges the candidate’s mental awareness, clear and logical analysis,
critical powers of assimilation, variety, and depth of interest, the balance of judgment, the proficiency for social
cohesion and leadership, and intellectual and moral integrity.
The final merit list of recommended candidates will be based on the total marks obtained in the Mains Exam
and the Interview.
