installation guidelines state:
“To prevent harmful condensation or heat buildup, air must circulate freely under the
roof deck. Install roof vents at ridges and eaves. Building codes require one square
foot of free ventilation to each 150 ft

) of attic area or one square foot/

) if 50% ventilation is provided near the ridge. All roof structures
must have thorough ventilation to prevent entrapment of moisture-laden air behind
roof sheathing. Ventilation provisions must meet or exceed current FHA or HUD
requirements and adopted building codes.”
Malarkey warranties have the following exclusion for lack of proper ventilation:
“Improper ventilation; at a minimum ventilation must comply with FHA Minimum Property
Standards.”
The warranty against manufacturing defects is in effecthowever, if the project is not
properly ventilated directly under the sheathing, any problems that occur or damage to the
shingles because of the lack of ventilation would not be covered by Malarkey warranties.
